Job Summary

The Customs Manager at Importal Customs LLC will lead the day-to-day operations of the Customs Brokerage Team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring Importal’s Customs Filings are completed timely, accurately, and compliantly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This role involves providing best-in-class customer service, contributing to product development, driving process improvements, and offering trade advisory and consulting services. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accurate and timely completion of customs business across all modes of transit, ensuring compliance with CBP Regulations.

  • Prepare and file customs entries for a variety of clients, ensuring compliance with CBP Regulations.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operational customs brokers to ensure high performance

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex entry issues internally and externally.

  • Monitor regulatory updates from CBP any associated partner government agencies (PGAs), and communicate impact to clients and internal teams.

  • Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships, providing consultative guidance on trade compliance issues and concerns

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Product, and GTM teams to improve workflows and increase efficiency.

  • Conduct internal audits and quality reviews of completed filings to identify errors, assess risk, and implement corrective actions.

  • Support business development by owning new client onboarding, assisting in setting up new business for success with Importal

  • Review and report on Performance Metrics of the Brokerage Team on a regular cadence. Implementing process improvements where necessary to improve our performance

  • Provide best-in-class customer service to clients, addressing their needs and concerns promptly.

  • Contribute to product development initiatives to enhance service offerings.

  • Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and compliance.

  • Offer trade advisory and consulting services to clients, helping them navigate complex customs regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in customs brokerage or a similar role.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a people management role

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).

  • Strong knowledge of CBP Regulations, PGA Regulations, and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS); among others.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in ABI Software, ACE, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a people management role

  • Experience in a tech-enabled brokerage or Saas environment

  • Experience working with a wide variety of clients in different industries

  • Experience building and owning an internal Trade Compliance program

  • Experience contributing to the design and implementation of Saas tools
